Excerpts from Dear Psychic
Dear Pat,
What is the best way to stay healthy?
FIT KID,
Pleasanton, CA
Dear FIT,
Love yourself
Love your body.
Love everybody else.
Let go of everything easily.
Dear Pat,
You gave me a reading in October and mentioned that I had a spiritual contract for another child. I nearly fainted. But you explained to me that it was not absolutely necessary because of free will etc...Well Thanks Pat! In December I went to the doctor complaining of being overweight. I was playing tennis and running 12-15 miles per week but could not lose weight. He said: 'You are stressed and old'. I asked if I could possibly be pregnant. 'No, no, you are stressed-- go relax.'
Two weeks later I went to another doctor complaining of movement, and it was: "Congratulations! my dear, you are 16 weeks pregnant. At my age then I really WAS stressed! You foretold in your reading. Contract fulfilled. He is a great kid, but no more please.
MOM again
Monterey, CA
Dear Mom,
This reminds me of another mom who was told that, because of her age, she could not be pregnant. 'It's a tumor', said the doctor, and advised surgery. Nine months later she brought her son to the doctor and introduced him saying: 'I'd like you to meet my little tumor!' Congrats to you, baby, and Dad.
Dear Pat,
My life has been a shambles for the past three years depite much effort to suceed. In desperation, I tried to go in other directions, trying to find a future profession. The time has come to make several choices. Unfortunately, financially (and therefore emotionally), I am at the point of collapse. Can you give me some clues?
STRESSED,
Modesto, CA
Dear STRESSED,
Go ahead, collapse! Then start the rebuilding process. You've been so afraid of failure that you've pushed yourself too far into losing situations. Don't panic. If you fail, you fail. Big deal! You aren't dead yet. Learn from your past mistakes. Then close the door on the past and start again. People are always asking me what their future is going to be. Well, you make your own future. What are you going to create for yourself? This I can tell you. You will not starve to death. You will not be jailed or killed. And this is likely to be the last really hard lesson that you will have to learn for awhile.
Dear Pat,
I've put off looking for a more satisfying job for the last few years. Now it seem s like the decision might be made for me. My supervisor gave me a very poor review this year, and with conditions the way they are, I'm afraid that I will be laid off. What is your view of this situation?
OPRESSED WORKER,
Sunnyvale, CA
Dear OPRESSED,
There are two ways to make change in your life. You can make a plan and follow it through, or you can wait until you are backed up against a wall and are forced to change.Traditionally, you have waited until you were desperate before you were willing to take some risks. Don't you think it's time to break that silly pattern?
You have very little job security right now. And you have created this situation by passively resisting this job. You don't feel like you owe your employer anything for the wage you are being paid. If I were your boss, I would fire you!
You need to make a new plan now. Perhaps going back to school to retrain for a job you will enjoy more. Sure that's hard, but being unemployed is no picnic either! Make a plan and go forward instead of continuing in these same sad circles. Like the Nike ad says, 'Just do it!'
Dear Pat,
In the Bible we are warned against sorcery. You may not realize it, but you are on a direct path to hell. If you accept the Lord Jesus, you will find something much more powerful than the powers you now have which have been granted to you by Satan.
ANONYMOUS
Dear ANONYMOUS,
Thank you for your kind concern. I have read the Bible completely through several times and I find it a book of great beauty. Yet you will pardon me if I do not agree with your idea that my abilities come from Satan.I was born with these abilities. It makes as much sense to say that God gave them to me or that God made me right-handed or the Devil made me tone-deaf. Does God give me my ability to learn languages and the Devil make me lousy at math?
If there is evil in the world, it is not there as a result of our talents. Evil or good might better be described as a result of the way we use or misuse those talents. I agree with Saint Paul. (Perhaps you've heard of him?) He said, 'Neglect not these gifts that are in thee, of prophecy and the laying on of hands...'
